If you've ever searched the App Store for a "Facebook video downloader," you already know the problem - most of those apps are stuffed with ads, ask for weird permissions, or stop working after a week. Some get pulled from the store entirely.
Here's the thing though: you don't need an app at all. Your iPhone can already do this with Safari alone, and it takes less than a minute once you know the steps.
The Safari Method (Works on Every iPhone)
Step 1. Open Facebook and find the video. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯), then Copy Link. This works for regular videos, Reels, and Watch videos alike.
Step 2. Switch to Safari - and yes, it really should be Safari. Chrome on iOS sometimes refuses to download files, but Safari handles it properly every time.

Where Did the File Go?
This trips people up. The video doesn't land in Photos automatically - it goes to the Files app, inside the Downloads folder. Open Files → Downloads, and your MP4 will be sitting there.
Want it in your gallery? Tap the video, hit the Share button (the square with the arrow), and choose Save Video. Done - it's in Photos now, ready for WhatsApp or editing.
If Something Goes Wrong
- No download prompt? Check Settings → Safari → Downloads is set to a valid location (iCloud Drive or "On My iPhone" both work).
- Blurry result? The quality matches the original upload. If the creator posted 480p, that's the ceiling - no tool can invent pixels.
- Error fetching the link? The video is probably set to "Friends only." Only public videos can be downloaded - look for the 🌐 globe icon next to the timestamp.
Why Not Just Screen Record?
You can, and iPhone's built-in recorder does a decent job. But you'll capture notifications, the recording is lower quality than the source, and trimming it afterward is a chore. The downloader gives you the original file, clean.
